CINERIS for iPad and iPhone: Privacy Policy
CINERIS does not collect, store on any server, share or sell any personal data. It has no account, no advertising, no tracking, no analytics and no crash reporting, and it never connects to the internet. Every sound is synthesized on your device, and your presets stay on your device.
Who we are
CINERIS is a synthesizer for iPad and iPhone, a standalone app and an Audio Unit (AUv3) instrument extension, made by Another Machines. This policy covers CINERIS for iPad and iPhone. You can reach us at anothermachines@gmail.com.
Data collection and sharing
CINERIS collects no data. It contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting software, uses no third-party SDK that collects data, and makes no network connections. Another Machines receives nothing from the app: no usage statistics, no identifiers, no audio and no presets.
CINERIS does not track you across apps or websites and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
Audio
CINERIS generates sound on your device. It has no audio input: it never records, listens to or processes your microphone or any other input, and it never stores or transmits audio.
Like every iOS app built on Apple's shared audio session, CINERIS includes a microphone purpose string in its configuration because the session category requires it. CINERIS never uses the microphone and you will not see a microphone permission request.
What is stored on your device
- Your presets: files with a name, a category, tags and the instrument's settings. They contain no audio and no personal data.
- Favourites and preferences: your favourite presets, appearance (finish, accent colour, chamber style) and app options.
- The current sound: so the app can reopen with your last sound, if you choose.
These files are kept in an app group container shared only between the CINERIS app and the CINERIS Audio Unit on the same device, so presets saved in one appear in the other. Your user presets are also mirrored to the CINERIS folder in the Files app, where you can see, copy or delete them.
When you use CINERIS as an Audio Unit, your host app saves the instrument's state inside your project, under that host's own privacy terms.
Import, export and sharing
CINERIS reads or writes a file only when you ask it to: importing or exporting a .cineris preset, or exporting a pattern as a MIDI file. You choose the file with the system file picker or send it through the system share sheet (for example AirDrop, Mail or Files). Where the file goes after that is your choice, and any service you use, such as iCloud Drive, handles it under its own privacy policy.
MIDI and Bluetooth
CINERIS receives MIDI from keyboards and controllers to play the instrument. In the standalone app you can pair Bluetooth MIDI devices through the system's Bluetooth MIDI panel. CINERIS uses Bluetooth only for this connection and collects nothing from it.
Device permissions
CINERIS does not request access to your camera, photos, location, contacts, calendars, health data, local network or microphone.
Retention and deletion
Everything CINERIS stores stays on your device until you delete it. Delete presets from the CINERIS library or from the Files app; deleting the app removes its data from the device.
Children
CINERIS collects no data from anyone, including children.
Apple services
Downloads, purchases, updates and device backups are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. Another Machines receives only the aggregated, anonymous sales and download reports that Apple provides to every developer.
Support email
If you write to us, we use your message and email address only to reply to you. We do not add you to any list.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. A change that affects your data would come with an app update that explains it.
