Getting started
- Open CINERIS and play the on-screen keys, or connect a MIDI keyboard.
- Tap the preset name to open the library. Choose a category, turn on AUDITION and browse. Each preset loads and plays.
- Press PLAY to hear the preset's own sequence. While it runs, the keys transpose it.
- Press GENERATE for a new sound and sequence from a category, or MUTATE to vary the current one. Undo takes you back.
- Press SAVE to keep a sound in your own library.
Using the Audio Unit
CINERIS is an AUv3 instrument. In your host, add an instrument track or channel and choose Audio Unit Extensions › Another Machines › CINERIS. The host saves the full state with your project. The CINERIS app does not need to be open.
In AUM: tap an empty channel's source slot, choose Audio Unit Extensions, then CINERIS. In GarageBand: add a track, choose External › Audio Unit Extensions, then CINERIS.
Presets you save in the app appear in the plug-in, and presets saved in the plug-in appear in the app.
MIDI
- USB and Bluetooth MIDI keyboards and controllers play CINERIS, with pitch bend, mod wheel, aftertouch and sustain.
- Pair Bluetooth MIDI devices in the standalone app from the Options menu.
- Touch and hold any control, choose MIDI learn, then move a knob or fader on your controller.
- The standalone app can follow external MIDI clock from the tempo menu; inside a host, CINERIS follows the host's tempo and transport.
Presets and files
- Your presets are in the CINERIS folder of the Files app.
- Share a preset as a
.cinerisfile from the library, and import presets you receive from the Options menu. - Export a pattern as a MIDI file from the pattern menu of the step sequencer.
Troubleshooting
- No sound with PLAY on: a running sequence uses the keys to transpose it. Turn PLAY off to play the keys directly, or play a key to start it.
- No sound in a host: make sure the track is armed or monitored and receives MIDI; inside a host the sequence runs with the host's transport.
- Stuck notes: choose Panic (All Notes Off) in the Options menu.
- Crackles: raise the buffer size in your host, or in Audio & MIDI Settings of the standalone app; set QUALITY to OFF on heavy patches.
- Background playback: to keep playing from an external keyboard with the app in the background, turn on Keep Playing in Background in the Options menu.
